Equipment & Technology
Wise Eyes Optometrists are committed to providing you with the highest standard of eye care available. With this in mind, we have invested in the latest in eyecare technology equipment, to deliver best practice full-scope Optometry. Along with the standard eye testing equipment we also have an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomographer), Digital Retinal Camera and Visual Fields Analyser.
OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)
An OCT scan takes a 3D image of the tissue below the surface of your retina. The OCT is one of the most advanced diagnostic tools available. This allows us to establish a baseline for your retina and macula and monitor for signs of degeneration and disease that have not presented on the surface. This enables earlier & more accurate diagnosis of many eye diseases, including glaucoma and macular degeneration. It is also fantastic to evaluate & assess retinal changes in diabetic patients. Our OCT simultaneously takes Digital retinal Photos of the retina and macula (back of the eye). For best practice eye care, we believe all patients would benefit from having an OCT scan, however it is particularly recommended for those patients who:
• Have never had an OCT scan (baseline reading)
• Patients with a family history of eye diseases
• Patients with eye disease (to monitor progression)
• Diabetics and smokers
• Patients over 40
• Patients with significant general health issues
• Patients with unexplained vision loss

Visual Fields Analyser
Our Visual Fields Instrument assesses a patients peripheral vision. During a standard eye examination, only the central vision is measured. This instrument therefore allows us to assess for any peripheral vision loss. There are numerous eye conditions that can affect peripheral vision, such as Glaucoma and other neurological conditions such as tumours and strokes. Good peripheral vision is also essential for safe driving.
